Died 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 1991, at her son's residence near Amite. She was 74, a native of Jack and a resident of Amite. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, at 10:30 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. John S. O'Connell, O.P. Burial in Amite Memorial Gardens.
Survived by a daughter, Mrs. Guy Bentley (Carolyn May) McDonald, Covington; two sons, Kenneth W. Courtney and James Buckner Courtney II, both of Amite; a brother, Norman Durnin, Amite; three sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Marguerite) Silbernagel, Amite, Mrs. Elbert (Bertha) Davis, Amite, and Mrs. Matthew (Melba) Smith, Greensburg; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Emile Joseph Courtney; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie E. Durnin; a brother, Ray Durnin; and a great-grandson, Blayne Courtney.
