Ruth Durnin Herbert, a homemaker, died Wednesday at Colonial Oaks Living Center in Metairie. She was 87. Mrs. Herbert was born in St. Helena Parish and lived in Hammond. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hammond.
Survivors include a son, Jack Durnin Herbert of River Ridge; two daughters, Anna Herbert Farrell of Springfield, Va., and Joan Herbert Murchison of Decatur, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Hammond. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Geisler Funeral Home, 300 S. Cherry St., Hammond, and Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond.
