DURNIN, JOHN A.
Died 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1977, at St. Helena Parish Hospital, Greensburg. He was 66, a native of St. Helena Parish and a resident of Greensburg. He was a retired employe of Exxon. Body at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday. Religious services at the Kendron Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by Revs. A. V. Faggard, Durwood Broughman and Eddie Morgan. Burial in the Roberts Cemetery, Hillsdale.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. Elvira Sharkey Durnin, Greensburg; one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Ward Ann) Merten, Baton Rouge; one son, John A. Durnin Jr., Baton Rouge; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Donald (Peggy) Moffat, Zachary, Mrs. Willie Ray Doodle Watson, Kentwood; two sisters, Mrs. W.A. (Gladys) McGeehee, Pride, and Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Herbert, Hammond; one brother, A.K. Durnin, Baton Rouge; 19 grandchildren. Preceeded in death by a son, Joseph Arnold Durnin; sister, Mrs. Leon (Mildred) Rohner; two brothers, Davis Durnin and Arnold Durnin. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Greensburg, and the Denham Springs Lodge No. 297 F&AM.
