MRS. GLENN HIXSON

Mrs. Glenn E. Hixson died at her home in Russell on Sunday evening, May 9, 1937, at the age of 49 years, 1 month and 10 days. She had been in usual health and on Sunday afternoon suffered a stroke of paralysis. In spite of all that medical skill and loving hands could do she slipped into the Great Beyond about two hours later.

Largely attended funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, were held at the Baptist church in Russell Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was in the Russell cemetery.

Minnie Mildred Dukes, only daughter of William and Minnie Patterson Dukes, was born near Russell, Iowa, on March 27, 1888. Her girlhood was spent in the quiet country home in Cedar township, where she helped to minister to her invalid mother, who preceded her in death on January 31, 1923.

On March 13, 1910, she was united in marriage to Glenn E. Hixson. The home was established on a farm north of Russell and in the same community where they have since resided.

Six children came to bless and brighten this home. They are: Arthur and Carl Hixson, of Melcher; Louise, of Des Moines; and Flossie, Ralph and Everett, at home, all of whom are living.

To her home she gave all the love and skill that was hers. The effect of the mother's care and devotion will ever be a guiding and sustaining light in the lives of her children.

When fourteen years of age she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Russell Baptist church, where she was untiring in her devotion to its interests.

Besides the grief stricken husband and children, she is survived by her father, Wm. Dukes, her mother-in-law, Mrs. Amos Hixson, and other relatives and friends.

All who knew her mourn the loss of this wife, mother, daughter and friend. To them, her noble live must ever be a loving memory.
