Discovering he had attempted too big a task in trying to thrash with his fists a quartette of young men who, he say, used obscene language in the presence of two young women in McCarty square, Saturday night, Leo Jones, 18, 940 Poland street, resorted to the use of a knife, police say. He had slashed two of them when Corporal Hoffman and Patrolman Faust arrived.
John Wallace, 18, 715 Elmira street, and Alvin Vorhies, 19, 1413 Independence street, were sent to Charity hospital to have slight cuts attended. With Jones, Frederick Donnow, 18, 903 Independence street, and Henry Schench, 18, 1015 Congress street, they are charged in the second recorder's court with fighting and disturbing the peace.

Frederick Charles Donnow, a retired employee of the New Orleans Dock Board, died Feb. 16 at NorthShore Regional Medical Center. He was 93. Mr. Donnow was born in New Orleans and lived in Slidell for 35 years. Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Garic, Shirley Adams and Dolores Dominguez; a son, Leonard Donnow ; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services were private.
