"On Thursday afternoon, December 22nd, 1932 at 12:55 o'clock, JULIA DERBES, daughter of the late Emerite LaSalle and Joseph Derbes, bloved aunt of Mrs. Stella Lennox, of 2130 Marengo street.
Services from National Funeral Home, Canal at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, December 23rd 1932, with interment in Greenwood cemetary."

As told to Linda Jenkins by Yevette "Tippi" Rothaermel - Julia was probably the only one of Emerite Lasalle's children born in France, born when the family went there to avoid the civil war. Free people of color who had money fled the country during the war. Julia never married, but she had a very strong mother/daughter relationship with Stella Doussan, Olivia's daughter. So strong, that she paid for Stella's wedding, and Olivia was not invited. Stella took care of her mother, Olivia when she was sick, before she died. Stella's nickname was Muzzy.
