JAMES DELISSE James Joseph DeLisse was born May 8, 1934 in Bayonne, N.J. He died at home July 2, 2012 from lung cancer.
A 48-year resident of Las Vegas, he started his career as a cook at the Black Forest Restaurant and went on to become chef of the Flamingo's Candlelight Room, the Riviera's Delmonico Room, and the Desert Inn's Monte Carlo room. He retired in 1992 after 17 years as general manager of the Royal Las Vegas Hotel. Jimmy loved his life, family, and friends. He loved good conversation and to laugh and give. But most of all, he loved to love. Anyone who spent a day with Jimmy fell in love with his charm, his smile, his wisdom, his stories, his cooking, and especially his spirit, which will live on in anyone and everyone whose lives he touched. Jimmy's friends frequently sought advice from him because he always seemed to have the perfect solution to any problem. If you were lucky enough to become Jimmy's friend, you immediately became part of his family. Throughout his illness, Jimmy never complained. Instead, he showed his love and appreciation for the wonderful life he lived. Jimmy always considered himself one of the luckiest men in the world. In truth, the lucky ones were those who got to know and love Jimmy DeLisse.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, of 38 years, Judy; his son, James; his daughters, Denise, Julie and Lori; his grandchildren, Trevor, J.D., Randy, Jeffery, Joey, Jonathan, Ariell and Ray; five great-grandchildren; former wife, Dorene Sanford; his many fabulous friends; and his dog, Torie. Cremation is to be performed by the Neptune Society. No services are scheduled at this time.
