Dees, Earl Lloyd

A resident of Fluker died at 9:58 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 18, 1929, in Amite and was 85 years of age.
Mr. Dees was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church in Amite. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in Education and also received his MEd. in Supervision and Administration. He served in the Armed Services during the Korean War. He taught American History at Amite High School until 1969. He then began a career in banking working at Central Progressive Bank and then Citizens National Bank from where he retired. Later he became the courier for the Bank of Greensburg. Big "E" loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed family dinners on Sunday, watching LSU and the Saints and, of course, his OFA Jackets, which involved all of his grandchildren. He loved living in Fluker and spending time on his patio enjoying nature.
He is survived by wife, Marilyn Kent Dees; son, Kevin Dees; daughters, Trudy Dees Durnin and husband, Steve and Heidi Dees Carter and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Kayla and Karly Durnin, Kent Dees and Keaton, Kamen and Kennidi Carter; sister, Dell Frickey and her husband, Joe. Preceded in death by daughter, Penny Dees McDowell; sister, Jean Dees Watson; brother, Lee Dees and parents, Lloyd Jerome Dees and Thelma Kemp Dees.
Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 8:30 AM until 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2014. Religious Services at St. Helena Catholic Church at 1 PM on Saturday. Services conducted by Fr. Mark Beard. Interment Amite Memorial Gardens, Amite. Pallbearers will be: Steve Durnin, Ken Carter, Kent Dees, Keaton Carter, Kamen Carter, Mark Roth, Ronny McDowell and Speedo Ramirez.
