In Memoriam Linda Carroll D'Antoni Blicharz
On May 3rd of this year the St. Louis Catholic Deaf Society lost long-time member and dear friend Linda D. Blicharz. She left behind her husband of thirty-six years Paul Blicharz, her children William M. (Jessi) and Brenda C. Blicharz, her grandchildren Tyler and Abigail Blicharz, and her sisters Anita Blanke of New Orleans, LA, Carla Ratican of St. Louis, MO, and Mona Marsden of Mancos, CO.
Linda was a cherished member of the Deaf community which she spent her life serving. She attended the Central Institute for the Deaf, St. Joseph's Institute for the Deaf, St. Joseph's Academy, and graduated from Gallaudet University in 1972 with a degree in psychology. In 2003, Linda earned her certificate in Deaf Ministry from the Ministry Formation Program in Chicago, IL. From 1997-2000, Linda served as Executive Director for St. Louis Metro Round Table Representatives on Deafness, Inc., receiving the RTR President's Award in 1999. In 2002 under the RTR, she founded the Deaf Diabetes Support Group for the St. Louis area. Of course, we also remember her for the countless ways she served us through the Catholic Deaf Society.
A funeral Mass for the repose of Linda's soul was offered by Fr. Bob Reiker on May 7th at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Her earthly remains now await the coming of our Lord at Resurrection Cemetery.
We pray for Linda and her family and all those close to her. We look forward the day when, through God's grace, we are once again united with her in the New Heaven and the New Earth. Until then, may she rest in peace.
