ST. JOSEPH \endash Emil Davis, age 79, of St. Joseph passed away at 4 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand, St. Joseph, with the Rev. Mark Harris officating. Burial will be at Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born April 12, 1928, in Muncie, the son of Earl and Pearl Hayes Davis. He married Sarah Shumate on September 25, 1949, in Potomac. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Steven (Kay) Davis of Galesburg; a daughter, Laura (Kevin) Sandefur of Royal; three grandchildren, Nathan and Grant Davis and Darcy Sandefur; a brother, Frank (Myra) Davis of Watseka; three sisters, June (Lloyd) Davis of Edwardsville, Ill., Wintress (Mitt) Christoff of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Bonnie (Harold) Spain of Danville; and a brother-in-law, Jack Wilson of Danville.

He was preceded by his parents, one brother, Ernest Davis, and one sister, Norma Wilson.
Mr. Davis was a lifelong farmer who very much enjoyed his job. He was a former Royal Grade School Board member and drainage commission board member. He was a big fan of University of Illinois sports. He was a member of Ellis Methodist Church.

Memorials can be made to the Royal Rescue Squad.
