DANVILLE - Earnest Leon Davis, 88, of Danville died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 13, 2005) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. The Rev. John Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born Aug. 4, 1917, in Muncie, a son of Earl and Pearl Hayes Davis. He married Wanda "Peggy" McQueen on June 6, 1941, in Villa Grove. She died April 21, 1966. He married Dorothy Coddington on Nov. 10, 1967, in Danville. She died Oct. 24, 1992.

Survivors include five sons, Roger Davis of Indianapolis, Jerry Davis of Danville, Richard Davis of Madison, Wis., the Rev. John Davis of Watertown, Wis., and Greg Davis of Bedford, Texas; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emil Davis of Royal and Frank Davis of Watseka; and four sisters, June Davis, Wintress Christoff and Norma Wilson, all of Danville, and Bonnie Spain of Potomac.

Mr. Davis graduated from Oakwood High School and Illinois Business College. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II.

Mr. Davis farmed from 1945 to 1958. He worked at Production Credit Association and retired as vice president of Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of New Orleans in 1978.
He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Danville and the Masonic Lodge-Ogden Blue Lodge. He was a past member of Danville Elks Lodge 332. He was also a past board member of the Ogden school district.

He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
