ADALINE HIXSON
Adaline Daugherty Hixson, daughter of George and Louisa Jane Daugherty, was born February 14, 1868, in Warren county, Iowa, and passed from this life June 8, 1956 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dewey Sellers, at the age of 86 years, four months and 23 days.
Early in life she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was a member of the Bethel United Brethren church. At an early age she moved to the Bethel community and was united in marriage to Amos Hixson, May 13, 1886. To this union were born three children, Chester, Glenn and Nora.
She continued to make her home in the Bethel community until she moved to Russell in 1939. The last five years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Dewey Sellers, near Chariton.
She is survived by one daughter Nora, one son-in-law, Dewey Sellers, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. There are also step-children, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos, and by two sons, Chester and Glenn, three sisters, six brothers and several step-children.
During her illness she was a patient sufferer. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, were held Monday, June 11, at the Miley Chapel. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery.
