Janet L. (Crull) Smashey, 85, of Olney, died on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
Janet was born on September 29, 1935 in Hollywood, CA the daughter of Harry Crull, Sr. and Edna (Hale).
She married Harold Earl "Nick" Smashey on August 17, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN. He preceded her in death on January 02, 2011.
Janet was a natural caregiver. Her door was always open to friends and family and she was a mother to more than just her own children. She loved watching sports, especially St. Louis Blues hockey and Cubs baseball. She also enjoyed watching the grandchildren's sporting events. Janet was also a fan of racing; every Memorial Day weekend for 35+ years she attended the Indy 500. She graduated from Butler University in the 1950's. She owned and operated her own store, The Needlecraft Nook, for many years.
Janet is survived by her son, Scott Theron (Natalia) Smashey of Cooper City, FL; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Smashey of Olney, IL; son, Barclay Edward (Lisa) Smashey of Olney, IL; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Royale Boger of Zephyr Hills, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, parents, brother, Harry Crull, Jr.
A Funeral Service for Janet will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A visitation will be held one hour before service time.
Cremation Rites will be accorded after services.
Interment will take place at a later date.
