Billy Connelly was religious and wouldn't dig gold on Sunday. He watched his partner dig on a Sunday and the man took out a nugget worth a lot of money. Billy said he wouldn't work it any more. He gambled and lost all. He chopped wood all winter to get money to come back to Illinois. Came back and stayed. He died on Dec. 26th 1893.
