Per Connelly Family History compiled by G. P. Williams:
Married Margaret Boner, a wealthy woman, and they lived along the Ohio river across from Cincinnati, in Kentucky. They had a family of sixteen children and before the Civil War owned a steamboat on the Ohio, a tobacco plantation and enough Negroes (about 40) to operate them.
The Civil War, carpet baggers, and corn whiskey took it all away and the clan scattered like quail to the four winds in the late 1860's.
