Gloria Cahill D'Antoni, known to all who loved her as Sweetheart, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born on September 16, 1922 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Blaise S. D'Antoni, Jr., her parents Thomas and Lucia Galoni Cahill, her brother Thomas Cahill, Jr., and her sister Marguerite Cahill Rooker. Sweetheart is survived by her sister Shirley Cahill Grevemberg and her four children: Joan D'Antoni, John D'Antoni (Cassandra), Edward D'Antoni (Susan), and Blaise S. D'Antoni III (Lynda).
Blaise and Sweetheart were married for 65 wonderful years. Her grandchildren include Greg & Jeff Harris, Miranda Miller, Claire, Ben, Lydia, Joseph, Evan, Christina, Laura, and Blaise D'Antoni. She is also survived by five great-grand children.
Sweetheart attended Ursuline Academy from kindergarten through college and graduated in the class of 1943. She was an active parishioner of St. Pius X Parish where she was a member of the Mothers Club, Sodality, Theresians, Alter Society, and Pentecostal Prayer Group. She was also a member of the Lake Terrace Garden & Women's Club, and the Southern Yacht Club. She was an active volunteer for the Chateau de Notre Dame Guild, St. Vincent's Guild, St. Michael's Special School, and the Little Sister's of the Poor.
The family wishes to thank her loving caregivers and close friends Melvina Benfield, Helen Brooks, Terry Edmonds & Mildred Hogan.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd., New Orleans, La. 70124, on Monday, April 14th at 12:00 noon. Friends may attend the visitation after 10:00am at the Church. Interment in Metairie Cemetery.
