Miss Sally Derossett, 803 Chestnut street, Murphysboro was guest of honor at a bridal shower given at the home of her sister, Mrs. Howard Kennedy, 1414 Kennedy street. Miss Mary Jane Robinson, Miss Alice Marie Will and Mrs. William Lowe were hostesses.
Miss Derosett will become the bride of James Zimmer of Hurst, November 4.
Games of bunco were played during the party and prizes were won by Anna Marie Harris and Vivian Crews.

Miss DeRossett Wed Saturday In Murphysboro
The wedding of Miss Sally DeRossett of Murphysboro to James R. Zimmer of Hurst took place Saturday afternoon, November 4, at the Fjrst Lutheran church in Murphysboro.
Rev. William J. Boatman read the single ring ceremony at 2 o'clock in the presence of Alice Marie Will and Roy B. Deason.
For the ceremony. the bride wore a light blue wool jersey dress with coffee-colored accessories. She carried a nosegay of yellow roses.
Her attendant wore a light pink wool jersey dress with navy blue accessories. She carried a nosegay of blue carnations.
Following the ceremony. the newly-married couple left for a wedding trip. For their departure, the bride wore a three-piece bown suit with green accessories.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. DeRossett of 314 North Fifteenth street, Murphysboro, was graduated from Murphysboro Township high schol and is employed in the GMAC office in Carbondale. She is a member of the First Lutheran church.
The groom, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zimmer, reside in Hurst was graduated from St. Louis university and is engaged in law practice in Carbondale.
Mr. and Mrs. Zimmer are residing in a newly-constructed home in Carbondale.

James R. Zimmer passed away Jan. 18, 2008, at 6:15 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale,
after a seven-year illness encompassing a three-year nursing home stay.
A celebration of his life and memorial service will be in First Christian Church in Carbondale at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, with Pastor Katherine Bryant Graves officiating. Honoring the family's Wishes, he was cremated. Committal services will be in Blairsville Cemetery immediately after the Church service.
Walker Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Jim was born at home in Hurst to Effie and Henry Zimmer on Feb. 8, 1920.
He married Sally DeRossett on Nov. 4, 1950, in Murphysboro. She survives, along with their eldest daughter, Ruth Farrand and husband, Michael, of Chattanooga, Tenn; their youngest daughter, Mary Jane Zimmer of Carbondale; his only grandchild, Tyler James Powers of Dayton, Tenn; a brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law of Murphysboro; many nieces, nephews, other extended family, colleagues and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and a munber of in-laws
and extended family.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Carbondale.
