Alan Vanney
Penn Valley resident Alan Paul Yanney passed away May 7 at his home. He was 71.
According to his wishes, no services are planned. Cremation was handled by the Neptune Society.
Mr. Yanney was born May 27, 1926, in Redding, Penn, to Paul and Gwen Yanney.
Mr. Yanney moved to Penn Valley from Anaheim in 1981. Mr. Yanney served as a radioman with the U.S. Navy during World War II. From 1943 to 1946, he was stationed in Guam, Saipan and Taiwan. Mr. Yanney served in the reserves from 1946 to 1955, and was recalled to active duty in 1950 for the Korean War. He served as a radio instructor in San Diego.
Before retiring in 1983, he worked for Pacific Bell and AT&T for 30 years.
Mr. Yanney is survived by his wife Arlene of Penn Valley; son Paul Joseph of Anaheim; step-
daughters Barbara McGowan of Nickerson, Kan, and Kaye Barton of El Segundo; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughterm, younger brother and parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Pet Adoption League or Hospice of the Foothills.
