Information for my gr-gr-grandmother is sketchy at best. This is what I have pieced together with the help of other researchers:
Mary (Browden) and husband Alexander Long were both born in North Carolina about 1800. They married, moved to Indiana and began their family of eight children but sadly, Alexander died at a young age in 1846 ... Mary & family then moved from Indiana to Iowa settling in Lucas County about 1854; Mary died sometime between then and 1859. Two of the children are unknown to us; died as infants. The other six children are: James D Long, John A Long, Elizabeth A Long Sellers, Henry C Long, Thomas J Long, and Mary Catherine Long Noble, who was the last surviving member of this family. Mostly they were all farmers, married and raised their own families.... I did not find Mary (Browden) Long on census at all. There is a grave stone that is partly unreadable, that simply says "Mary" - and is in the middle of other Long family graves. Even though there are no cemetery records or county records to help prove her death, I believe it is Mary Browden Long's grave beside that of her daughter, Elizabeth Long Sellers and her baby daughters Elizabeth E. and Mary. Also buried here are John A. Long & wife Mary M; Olla Noble, dau. of Mary Long Noble; and infant son of J A and M. Long.
