St. Clement's Setting for Vow Exchange
Richard Crawford Aberley of Berkeley, who received his degree in civil engineering from the University of California last month, took Janet Eileen Solache of San Francisco as his bride at a ceremony performed recently at St. Clement's Episcopal Church by the Rev. J. Henry Thomas.
The bridegroom has since entered the Army, and Mrs. Aberley has returned to her studies on the University of California campus. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and her husband's affiliation was Phi Kappa Sigma.
Her selection for a wedding dress was a model with a pointed bodice, a wide sash ending in a large bow, and a full skirt, all made of white bride's satin. She carried the handmade handkerchief her grandmother brought from France to
New Orleans in 1850. A fingertip veil and arrangement of two varieties of white orchids finished her costume.
Attendants were Patricia Kettler, maid of honor, and bridesmaids Carol Aberley, Marilyn Jarman and Carolyn Smith, with Robert E. Aberley as best
man and as ushers, Theodore Lutge, John Wolf and John Erdelatz.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Solache of 27th Avenue in San Francisco, and her husband is the son of Mrs. G. B. Aberley and the late Mr. Aberley.

Per Obituary in the Amador Ledger Dispatch
Janet Aberley December 8, 1930 - June 22, 2007
Janet Aberley died peacefully at home on June 22 after a long battle with cancer. She was 76 years old. Janet was born Dec. 8, 1930, in San Francisco and spent her early childhood in that city. Following graduation from Lincoln High School in San Francisco, she attended UC Berkeley where she met her husband, Dick. They were married on Jan. 27, 1951. During their 56 years of marriage, Dick's civil engineering career took them to homes in Alaska, Pennsylvania, Oakland, Lake Tahoe, Australia and Moraga. Janet received a BA degree in education from Cal State Hayward and taught several years in San Ramon. In 1970, Dick's job took them to Australia where they lived for seven years. While in Australia, Janet taught at a private high school in Melbourne. Upon her return to America in 1977, she began a new career as a travel agent, an occupation she pursued until her retirement in 1991. In 1992, Dick and Janet moved to Amador County where they have resided ever since.
Janet is survived by her husband, Dick; three loving daughters and their families, Eileen and Dave Haflich and their sons Brant and Reid of Glen Ellen, Jennifer and Doug Norton and their sons Russell and Mitchell of Sutter Creek, and Cindy and Arlen Holst and their children Bryan and Katie of Sacramento. Janet's main retirement interest was nurturing her grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Prior to her retirement, Janet was active in many outdoor pursuits, such as skiing, backpacking, running 10Ks and half-marathons, and sailing. She was also an avid world traveler, both in her job as a travel agent and with her husband on business trips.
Janet was active in many community organizations in Amador County. She held leadership positions in Newcomer's Club, American Association of University Women and Sutter Creek Women's Club. Her volunteer work included a four-year term on the county's school board, director of the Amador County Foundation, assisting in clerical duties for the Amador County Court and acting as a certified peer counselor. Other retirement activities included being the "world's greatest grandmother," extensive travel, bridge, book clubs, and assisting Dick in the design of their homes in Pine Grove and Sutter Creek.
Janet was a fun loving, outgoing woman who maintained a marvelously positive attitude throughout her long illness. She will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road, Jackson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Amador Community Foundation, 21B Main Street, Jackson, 95642.
