Wilder Breckenridge Selman, age 73, passed away Wednesday, June 1st, 2011. Wilder was the daughter of Esther Dupuy Breck-enridge and Hugh Breckenridge, both deceased. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James L. Selman II, as well as her adoring children: J. Larkin Selman II, John Breckenridge Selman (and wife, Susan), Mary Wilder Lebourgeois and Sara St. John Lowrance (and husband, Hughes). She is also survived by her sister, Sara Breckenridge Wright of Paris, France and brother, Mordelo V. Breckenridge (and wife Nita) of New Orleans, Louisiana, 6 grandchildren, 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
Wilder was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in New Orleans, and received her BA and MA degrees from Newcomb College of New Orleans. For many years, Wilder was a successful real estate broker in New Orleans. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, Junior League of New Orleans and the Arts Council. Wilder was a renowned chef with many famous culinary creations to her credit. She enjoyed traveling extensively around the world. She was loved by her family, her large circle of friends and acquaintances.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6367 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Visitation at church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be private.
