Blanche K. Zitzmann Callihan was airlifted from her home to West Jefferson Hospital the night of Katrina August 29, 2005. She passed away a few days later on September 7, 2005. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Carl J. Callihan; her parents Joseph J. Zitzmann Sr. and Catherine Esquire Zitzmann. All her brothers, John, Joseph Jr., Henry, William, Emile; her sister Margarite Z. Stieffel ; and son-in-laws Stephen Bateman and S. Blaine Yeager. She is survived by her children, Marie C., John J., Blanche C. Yeager, Charles J., Carl Raymond, and Ruth Ann Bateman; Daughter-in-laws Jean, Laurie, Dianne Callihan, Yvette Fernandez and Joyce Slauer; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Callihan was very active with the Lakeview Shepherd Center, St Dominic Rosary Altar Society and Sacred Heart Federal Credit Union and retired from Katz & Besthoff Drugstore.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, (Formerly All Faiths) 5200 Canal Blvd. on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests masses, donations to St Dominic Rebuilding Fund in her memory or Lakeview Shepherd Center.
