Hilda Amelia Wax Hagstette , a homemaker, died Sunday at her home. She was 95. Mrs. Hagstette was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Circle, the Missionary League and the Altar Guild, and in 1993 was recognized as the oldest living graduate of St. John Lutheran School. She was a volunteer at Milne Boys School and helped to prepare Braille books for the blind. Survivors include two sons, Stephen E. and William J. Hagstette Jr.; three daughters, Wilda H. Martinez, Esther H. Jordan and Elizabeth H. Walker; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., followed by a service at St. John Lutheran Church, 3937 Canal St. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9:30 p.m., and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
