Per BARBARA HAYES Obituary
Barbara R. Hayes, a longtime resident of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on September 3rd. She was 84 years old. Barbara Ellen Ruddock was born and raised in the Chicago area (Winnetka, New Trier High School, Lake Forest College). In 1961, she married Larry Hayes who would be her husband until his death 57 years later. The young couple initially relocated for business reasons but returned to the Chicago area in the 1970s, settling in Arlington Heights.
Barbara had several passions including her dogs, volunteering, philanthropy, cooking, and entertaining. She was not one to turn down a party invitation, a cocktail, or a trip to an exotic location. She often accompanied Larry on business trips. A particularly memorable "business trip" was a week at the Ritz Paris.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Hugh and was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents, John and Hermine Ruddock; and her brother, James. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Lutheran Home and to the very wonderful people involved in the Hospice community.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 11:00 AM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
