10th ward New Orleans page 157 - head of household is Henry Walter, age 50, born in Prussia of foreign born parents. His trade is speculator, and he owns personal effects valued at $3,000. Keeping house is Catherine, age 40, also of Prussia. Children are Mena (17, at home), Walter (14, at school), Chas (3), Christina (7), Louisa (1). Walter attends school. All the children were born in Louisiana.
They have a 25 year old Irish domestic servant named Mary Gibbons.

Rathke, is a 24 year old widow, and was born in Louisiana. Ruth E. Rathky is the 24 year old single daughter of Carrie, was born in Louisiana, and is an artist at Agency(sp?). Granddaughter Marie L. Rathke is 2 years and two months old, born in Louisiana. There is a boarder, 19 year old Agnes Hodges, a stenographer at Federal Bank.

Head of household is George E. Pearce, a 41 year old white male, employed as a commercial artist. George is a WW veteran, and rents his home for $50 per month. George, who first married at age 36, is married to 35 year old Ruth A. Pearce. As Ruth was first married at age 28, it is possible this is her 2nd marriage, or the census is wrong. They have a 5 year old son, George E. Pearce, Jr. Also living in the home is Ruth's mother, 69 year old Christine Rathke, a widow who first married at age 30. Christine owns a home valued at $8,500. All family member were born in Louisiana, as were their parents, except Christine, whose parents were born in Germany.

RATHKE -- On Sunday, March 21, 1937, at 9 o'clock p. m., at the residence, 5939 Coliseum street, CHRISTINE WALTER, widow of John Rathke, mother of Mrs. George Pearce and the late Walter Rathke, grandmother of Mrs. Woodrow Matthews and Edmund Pearce and sister of Mrs. E. N. Hellbach, Mrs. Mary Hufft and Charles Walter.

Relative and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral, which will take place Monday afternoon, March 22, 1937, at 4 o'clock, from the House of Bultman, St. Charles avenue at Louisiana avenue.

Interment Lafayette cemetery No. 1 Washington avenue and Prytania street.
