Von Salzen Rites Today
Funeral services for Conrad Adam von Salzen a retired area electrician will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the Uptown Chapel of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp Inc, 4127 S. Claiborne Ave. Conducting the services will be the Rev. Edgar Homrighausen, pastor of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Cypress Grove Cemetery.
Mr. von Salzen, 85, died Thursday at 12:15 a.m. at his residence after a lengthy illness.
A native and life-long resident of this area he spent his entire career in the electrical field, at one time operating his own electrical contracting firm, and working with other firms for more than 60 years. He retired recently and moved to the Gulf Coat, returning to the city during his illness.
He was a member of Local 130, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; Friends of Harmony
Lodge; and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Hellbach; a son, Conley von Salzen, New Orleans; two daughters, Mrs. Myrl A. Warren, Charlotte, N.C., and Mrs. Dorothy M. Giardina, New Orleans; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
