Erwin Jose Vega, a retired warehouse foreman for Albert J. Ruhlman Co., died Monday of heart failure at his home. He was 72. Mr. Vega was born in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, the past 20 years in Metairie. He also was a part-time resident of Waveland, Miss. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and a member of the Dawn Busters Golf Club. Survivors include his wife, Marie Hagen Vega; four sons, Gary, Ricky, Glen and Denis Vega; four daughters, Cindy St. Cyr and Cathy, Lynne and Patricia Vega; two sisters, Margaret Rita Vega Stephens of Baton Rouge and Marie Theresa Vega Cambre; two brothers, Jose James Vega of Atlanta and Paul Joseph Vega of Hammond; and 10 grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 W. Metairie Ave., Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
