DONALD VAN HORN
Donald E. Van Horn, 74, of 3 Oak Valley Road, Hilltop Mobile Home Court, Bloomington, died at 3:10
a.m. Monday (July 5, 1999) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Metzler\emdash Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Fred Franks officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Township Memorial Cemetery, Heyworth, with military rites accorded by the Carl S. Martin Post 635 of Normal. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the
memorial home.
Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center, 407 E. Vernon Ave., Normal.
Mr. Van Horn was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Heyworth, a son of Chester A. and Jessie Hayes Van Horn. He
married Alta M. Edwards on Feb. 6, 1946, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Audrey (Jose) Ramos, Sterling; Rebecca (Gary) Tucker, 18 Shoal Creek Court, Bloomington; and Barbara J. (Rick) Hale, Heyworth; one son, Ronald (Peggy) Van Horn, Carlock; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Van Horn was a former member of the Bloomington Lodge 43 A.F. & A.M. and Lodge 50 of the
Order of the Eastern Star, Bloomington Consistory and Scottish Rite Bodies.
Mr. Van Horn was a WWII Navy veteran. He served from 1942 to 1946 and obtained the rank of gunner's mate 3rd class.
He was a crane operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 649 of Peoria.
Mr. Van Horn was an avid fisherman and a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grand-father who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
