My ancestor's services ... were as follows:
On August 28, 1776 Joseph Hayes mortgaged his land in Newlin Township (Two Farms), for 574 Pounds, and the tradition is that at his own expense, he equipped a Company of Cavalry, of which he was Captain, and gave his services to his Country; being for a time under the Command of General Otho Williams (1782).
