Earl Stonecypher, 15, 3231 Belfast street, received multiple lacerations of the face and head Monday night, according to police, when the automobile in which he was riding with his father, John Stonecypher, ran on the sidewalk and struck a pole at Dorgenois street and Washington avenue. The elder Stonecypher, who was driving the auto, said that he was blinded by rain.

Earl Stonecypher passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at 12:10 AM. Age 88 years. Beloved husband of Elise Bordes Stonecypher. Father of Joan Stonecypher, Jane Stonecypher and the late Jean S. Sclafani. Grandfather of Peter J. Sclafani III and Gino E. Sclafani. Great-grandfather of Peter, Gino, Katherine and Olivia Sclafani. Brother of Clayton Stonecypher, James Stonecypher, the late John Stonecypher and Homer Stonecypher. Mr. Stonecypher and his wife are retired managers of 44 years, of LaNasa Hardware in the French Market.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 AM until time of Mass. Earl Stonecypher, retired manager of Lanasa Hardware Co., died Tuesday of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 88. Mr. Stonecypher was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 11 years. He served in the Coast Guard and was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Elise Bordes Stonecypher; two daughters, Joan and Jane Stonecypher; two brothers, Clayton and James Stonecypher; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said Thursday at 1 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
