"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31. A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Leon C. Stilley went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, April 3, 2005. He was born in Tioga, on Aug. 2, 1930.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hines Hunter Stilley and Lela Salassi Stilley .

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Athlea "Lil Red" Goodwin Stilley ; daughters, Pat Stilley Romero and spouse Johnnie Romero, and Linda Stilley Aaron and spouse William R. Aaron; son, Michael Leon Stilley ; and brother, Warren Stilley and spouse Nancy Stilley . He delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, William R. "Billy" Aaron and spouse Shannon and their children, Will and Julia Aaron; Jennifer Aaron Hataway and spouse Wes Hataway and their children, Lindy and Maggie Hataway; Hunter Briley; LeAnn Stilley and fiancé J.W. Hart; and Cherie Romero Tucker and spouse Jeremy Tucker and their child, Haylie; Melanie Romero and fiancé Adam Guss; Wendy Romero Bell and spouse Robert Bell; and Greg Romero.

Pallbearers will be Billy Aaron, Wes Hataway, Joe Stilley , Hunter Briley, Johnie Romero and Davis Rayborn. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Zoar Baptist Church.

His greatest pleasure was teaching his Early Bird Sunday School Class at Zoar Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, as well as singing in the choir and making his Monday morning hospital visits. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, with Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Visiting at Zoar Baptist Church from 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to express grateful thanks to the sixth floor north staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Mr. Stilley 's doctors.
