Miss Richardson, Mr. Robert Simon Wed in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD - The sanctuary of the Blood River Church of God, formed the setting for the ceremony uniting in marriage Miss Beatrice Evelyn Richardson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin James Richardson of Springfield and Mr. Robert Paul Simon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Joseph Simon of Baton Rouge. Performing the ceremony at 5 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, Sept. 4, was the Rev. James Mattison.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown of silk peau de sole and imported lace. An overblouse fashioned of lace overlaid the sleeveless bodice, featuring a softly-rounded neckline and elbow-length sleeves. Petite self-covered buttons accented the enclosure. A softly shaped-bell insprired skirt merging the bodice swept gracefully into floor-length, while cascading into a chapel train.
A pill box type headpiece framed of peau de sole and gown-matching lace held in place her waist-length veil of illusion. The bride carried a shower bouquet designed of white bride's roses centered with a white orchid.
Miss Elaine LeBlanc of Ponchatoula serving as maid of honor was attired in a powder blue silk crepe fashioned with a fitted bodice short sleeves and a bouffant skirt. A circlet of matching crepe framed with tulle formed her headresss. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses.
Mr. Wallace Simon served as best man for his brother. Messrs. Larry Richardson and Spencer Bernard served as ushers.
The ensuing reception was held in the social area of the church. Assisting in serving were Miss Lorraine Richardson, who registered guests, Miss Janice Simon, Miss Theresa Simon, Mrs. Aubrey Jenkins, Mrs. Maurice Robinson Sr., and Mrs. Edward Bauerle.
An azure blue ensemble complemented with black accessories and a white orchid corsage was chosen by the newly-married Mrs. Simon for the wedding trip.
