SMITH SR., WILLIAM MATTHEW
Died 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 1992, at St. Helena Parish Hospital, Greensburg. He was 72, a native of Fernwood, Miss., and resident of Greensburg. He was a former St. Helena Parish Clerk of Court, a retired St. Helena Parish Deputy Sheriff, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday, with scripture services at 7 p.m. Sunday, and 8 to 9:45 a.m. Monday. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helena Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Monday, conducted by Father Fred Youngs. Burial in Greensburg Cemetery.
Survived by wife, Melba Durnin Smith, Greensburg; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Dupepe and Mrs. Imelda Travis, both of Greensburg; two sons, Billy Smith, Covington, and Jerry Smith, Amite; two sisters,Mrs. Nannie Mae Womack, Kentwood, and Mrs. Elois McNabb, Greensburg; two brothers, Albert Smith and Ray Smith, both of Greensburg; 12 grandchildren, Lorie, Darrell and Greg Dupepe, Shawn Travis Hurst, Mitchell and Ashlee Travis, Matt, Valarie and Karmen Smith, Adam, Alan and Abby Smith. Preceded in death by parents, Harvey W. and Lou Ora Allen Smith.
