ECONOMY, Ind., Mar. 30.\'97The marriage of Miss Thelma Ruth Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas of Fountain City and Carlis Nixon, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nixon of Elizabethtown, Ohio, took place at 6:30
o'clock Saturday evening, Mar. 27, at the home of the bride's parents.

An impressive single ring ceremony was read by Rev. Ivan C. Hughes before an altar of lilies and greenery, near the fireplace. Candles furnished the only light.

Preceding the ceremony Miss Mable Thomas, sister of the bride, and Miss Christine Lane sang, "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life," and "I Love You Truly" accompanied by Mrs. Cleo Parrish, who played the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" for the entrance of the bridal party.

The bride was lovely in a rose beige gown with which she wore white accessories and a corsage of cream rosebuds and orchid sweet peas tied with orchid tulle.

A dinner was served following the ceremony, a large wedding cake, forming the centerpiece of the bride's table. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. William Nixon, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hart, Mrs. Mamie Siefferman.
Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Parrish, Rev. Ivan Hodges, Misses Ruby Jackson, Mable Thomas, Christine Lane, and Dale Nixon, Billy Nixon, and John Dale Thomas.

The bride is a graduate of Liberty High School and.of Reid Memorial Hospitai Nurses Training School.

Following the reception Mr. and Mrs. Nixon left for their newly furnished home in Elizabethtown.

Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Parrish entertained recently with a miscellaneous shower for the bride-elect and Mr. Nixon who received a number of lovely gifts. The evening was spent informally, prizes for contests going to Mrs. John F. Summers and Miss Anne Parrish. St. Patrick's colors decorated the rooms
in which guests were entertained and the refreshments served. Those present were the honor guests, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Replogle, of Williamsbourg, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Thalls and daughter, Joyce, of Richmond, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hinshaw, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Summers of Modoc, Misses Mable Hodgin, Anna Parrish, Christine Lane, Mable Thomas, Lucille Sharp, Everett Longfellow, Dale Nixon, Bill Hieger, Bob Wickersham, and the host and hostess.

He was born Jan. 27, 1912. in Hamilton County, Ohio. to William Henry and Nancy West Hayes Nixon.
He had lived in West College Corner since 1944. He was a member of the College Corner United Methodist Church, the National Farmers Organization and the Grange. He was active in agricultural affairs in Union County and had served as a Democrat Precinct committee member for Union Township. He graduated from Whitewater Township High School in Miamitown, Ohio, in 1931.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Thelma Thomas Nixon; a son, John L. Nixon of West College
Corner; four daughters, Norma Jean Peters and Linda C. Clark, both of Oxford, Ohio, Janet W. Miller of Hamilton, Ohio, and R. Karen Gesell of West College Corner; two brothers, Dale Nixon and William Nixon Jr., both of College Corner, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Service will be at 3 p.m. (Indiana time) Monday at the College Corner United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ed Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial will be in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2-3 pm. (Indiana time) Monday.
