Lawrenceburg man killed cutting grass
LAWRENCEBURG:Howard Smashey, 48, of 517 Arch street, was electrocuted Thursday afternoon while mowing grass near the flood levee at the end of Walnut street.
Smashey was using a power mower to cut grass near electrical transformers on the levee bank, investigating officers said, and his head brushed a high tension wire carrying 4100 volts of electricity. .
He was an employe of the Lawrenceburg Flood Control Board since 1947.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fitch Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 9
p.m. today.
He leaves his wife, Patsy; two daughters, Lisa and Marjean, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Creighton
Smashey of Lawrenceburg; two sisters. Mrs. Watson Brown and Miss June Smashey, both of Lawrenceburg; two brothers. Henry of Lawrenceburg and Harold of Olney, Ill.
