Harold "Nick" Smashey, 79, of Olney, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011, at his home.

Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Claremont with full military rites.

Mr. Smashey was born April 7, 1931, the son of Creighton Drain and Mary Gertrude (Lowe) Smashey.

He married Janet (Crull) Smashey on August 17, 1957.

He was a pharmacist and a member of First Methodist Church.

Mr. Smashey is survived by Scott Theron and his wife, Natalia Smashey, of Fort Worth, Texas, Jennifer Lynn Lyttle, of Dundas, Barclay Edward and his wife, Lisa Smashey, of Olney; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
