[Per Bill Silbernagel Jr - my dad, William Silbernagel Sr, and my uncle, Thomas Silbernagel, were addicted to Putt Putt in the 1950s and 1960s, to the point they played in tournaments around the state. My uncle even made annual vacation trips where every nightly stay was at a pool his wife Anna Mae could use, but close enough to a Putt Putt couse for his use]

Note from Bill, Jr : Dad learned all about boilers in the Navy. He served during WWII aboard ships ferrying supplies from the US, along the coast of Alaska, to Russia, and then back. He worked in the engine room. After the war he worked a lot of jobs. I remember he worked off and on at my mother's parent's laundry, Comus Cleaners on Magazine street in New Orleans, where they used a large boiler to heat the water. He also worked a number of sales jobs around town. He worked for Fisher Sporting Goods [circa 1964] and Security Sporting Goods. I remember him coming home from work once with a story about Security Sporting Goods. They had a celebrity visitor, Lloyd Bridges, a famous actor who was in a television series about a diver. He was at the store where my dad worked to promote SCUBA gear. Dad came home and exclaimed, "Lloyd Bridges can't swim. They film the show in a shallow swimming pool"
