(F.- typo?) Zimmer 10/15/1898, two days after John Peter Silbernagel was born, it is likely they died before census date. (confirmed that Mary died 2 days after giving birth, and John died at 10 months)
Likely, Mary's mother moved in to take care of the kids.

According to New Orleans City Directories inline at Ancestry Plus
1890 Christian Silbernagel lives on south side of Urquhart between Clouet and Louisa, and is employed as a turnkey at Parish Prison.
1891 He now live at 174 Clouet, and is a sheriff's deputy. In Orleans, parish prison is run by a sheriff, so he may still be working at the prison. This may not be our Silbernagel, as by 1900 he runs a grocery.
