Charles Louis Silbernagel Sr., a retired tug boat captain, died Thursday at his home. He was 85. Mr. Silbernagel was born in New Orleans and lived in River Ridge for eight years. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Louise Berry Silbernagel ; two sons, Charles Jr. and Allen Silbernagel ; a daughter, Joan Chaplain; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass will be said today at 11 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery No. 1.
