IN MEMORIAM.
HALL ORLEANS BENEVOLENT ASS'N, New Orleans, La., Jan. 10, 1893.
At a meeting held this day, we, the undersigned committee appointed to draft suitable resolutions in memory of our late esteemed brother, ANDREW SILBERNAGEL, beg leave to offer the following.
Whereas, the remorseless messenger of death reminds us by the loss of our esteemed brother, Andrew Silbernagel, who departed this life on Friday, Dec. 23, 1892, at the age of 23, that we are here but a little while and must in time yield to the inevitable summons that all are destined to receive;
Therefore be it resolved, That in the early death of our esteemed brother we recognize the will of him who doeth all things for the best, and we bow in humble submission to his judgement, while we mourn the loss of a brother, who proved in every way worthy of our esteem, respect and friendship;
Resolved, That the exemplary and honorable life of our deceased brother is an assurance in us that in the life eternal his ways are full of joy and peace, leaving to his family the grandest of all legacies, that which is beyond all wealth, above all price - a pure, untarnished name.
Resolved, That the tender condolence of the Orleans Benevolent Association is hereby extended to the family and relatives of our deceased brother, and that we mingle our tears wih theirs, in this, their sad and irreperable loss, and believing, as we do, that death is the good man's gain and leads to a better life, we share with them the hope of a reunion in the world where partings are unknown;
Be it further resolved, As a further testimony of our esteem and veneration for his memory as a member of this association, that a special page of the minute-book be set apart for this purpose, and that these resolutions be spread thereon and a copy be presented to his bereaved family.
