Elizabeth Man Is Killed When Struck By Falling Tree
Special to The Enterprise
Oakdale, La., April 10, -Lafayette Sigler, 59, saw foreman and oldest employee in point of service of the Industrial Lumber company, was instantly killed in the logging camp of the lumber company Thursday morning when a tree fell upon him. Interment was in the Hampton Memorial cemetery in Elizabeth Friday afternoon. The Masonic lodge, of which the deceased was a member, conducted the funeral services.
Sigler, more familiarly known as "Fayette", was born in Polk county, Texas, April 17, 1867. In the same year his parents moved to Louisiana, settling at Sugartown where Sigler spent his childhood and early manhood.
Shortly after his marriage to Miss Barbara Strother in 1898, forsaking his chosen profession of school-teaching for a more remunerative field, he entered the employ of Will Bough of this city. When the Industrial Lumber company bought the mill and holdings of Mr. Bough, Sigler continued in the employ of the new owners, going to Elizabeth shortly after the mill was erected there some 20 years ago.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Barbara Sigler and seven children, Mrs. L. A. Holden of Port Arthur, Texas; Clinton A. Sigler of Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. J. H. Bourg, Millard F. Sigler, Bernice Sigler, Lenox Sigler and Mary Ellen Sigler, all of Elizabeth.

Fayette was the son of James Monroe Sigler and Mary Ann Williamson.
