George was born in Indiana; one of seven children born to these parents, who came to Iowa before 1860.
George D. Sellers was married to Elizabeth Ann Long in Lucas County, Iowa, on 20 July 1862; their ages are not given in the Lucas County Marriages book, on page 10. They were blessed with the birth of two daughters: Elizabeth E. and Mary. The children and mother are buried in the Allen Cemetery where stones indicate that the mother died in June 1863 and baby Elizabeth died in Sept. 1863. Baby Mary's name is at the bottom of sister Elizabeth's stone but no date is given for her death. It is my theory that they must have been twins; there are no records to confirm their births or deaths.
George D. Sellers married to Elizabeth Cossity in Lucas County, Iowa, on 20 May, 1866; his age is given as 28 and hers, 22, on page 13 of the Lucas County Marriages book.
Census records indicate that George & Elizabeth Cossity Sellers lived in Iowa and Kansas; George was a farmer and later a preacher. They had four sons. Wife Elizabeth died in Kansas, 1918; George made his home with son Oval and his family as listed in 1920 census of Colorado. George died in 1921 and was buried beside his wife, Elizabeth Cossity Sellers.
