Albert Joseph Ruhlmann II,owner of Albert J. Ruhlmann Corp., a supply company, died Sunday of a stroke at Touro Infirmary. He was 81. Mr. Ruhlmann was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended Tulane and Loyola universities. In 1965, he was named unofficial counsel to Ireland by Irish ambassador John J. Hearne and served for 15 years. He was presented with the key to the city of New Orleans in 1969 and was honored for community service by the New Orleans City Council in 1990. He was a charter member of the Plimsoll Club, the Covington Country Club, the Round Table Club and the Empire Club. He was a member of the Men's Opera Club, New Orleans Country Club, Azalea Club, Lotus Club, France-Amerique, St. Charles Avenue Association and Coliseum Square Association. He was a sergeant in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Imelda le Bourgeois; a daughter, Schuyler Louapre ; a brother, Armand A. Ruhlmann Jr.; three sisters, Katherine D'Aubert, Mildred Ruhlmann and Mary Green; and two grandchildren. A Mass will be said Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Chapel, 2030 Constant St., New Orleans. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. [61 Lemon Aloe Orange]
