Isaac Richardson Obituary
Ike Richardson, (Isaac Singletary Richardson) of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away in the early morning hours on January 2, 2024. He was surrounded by family and friends, in his home, leaving us from the same place he arrived nearly 81 years ago. The home he shared with his wife of 62 years, Brenda Herring Richardson, is situated near his childhood home where he was born, March 11, 1943. Richardson Hill, as family lovingly refers to the family homestead, is where Ike's heart resided always. He held a special bond with his parents and his many siblings and took great pride in being the first person that many family members called to solve any problem. He was a man of his word, full of integrity and honesty, even when it was hard.
He earned a living as a diesel mechanic and his expertise was sought throughout the Southeast, even near the end of his life. He could diagnose a problem over the phone when friends would call with a machinery issue. He was proud of his work with prominent companies such as Covington Paving and Henderson Auctions. Ike was never just an employee, he became family, and ties remain with these employers and their families to this day. Anyone who knew him would say he was the hardest working man they knew.
In addition to full time positions, he also maintained a shop at his home. Ike's favorite job was working with his son and grandsons in a family logging business for several years. Aside from his career, he enjoyed many hobbies: Fishing with his wife on the water was his favorite way to spend a day; making syrup with his family for Thanksgiving was the tradition he was most proud to continue; and hunting with his prized dogs in years gone by, provided great stories for grandsons to hear. He took care of everyone and everything around him, including the land. He loved being in nature, especially with his grandchildren. Time with his grands and great-grands was precious to him and he prayed for each one by name every night. He was also an expert on the fast pitch softball field, and played for many teams as a sought after hero on the pitcher's mound. He loved to joke and make people laugh. He never turned down a cup of coffee, nor forgot to offer one to a friend visiting him - which was many. His infectious smile, his warm, giving heart, and his love of life will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing and loving him.
Ike and Brenda's love built a large family. He was proud to be a Paw Paw of seven (7) and a Great Paw Paw of eighteen (18). He is survived by: His devoted wife Brenda Herring Richardson and his children, Carl Ike Richardson (wife Jeanna), Karen Wall, and Brenda Olivia Richardson; His grandchildren: Ike Daniel Richardson (wife Amber), Bill Patrick Warren Richardson (wife Erika), Holly Brooke Richardson (fiancé' Josh Ballard), Matthew Wall (wife Samantha), Don Wall (wife Chelsea), Cassidy Kayrin Woods, and Connor Joseph Parent (Step); His great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Richardson, Mallorie Richardson, Maggie Richardson, Maksim Richardson, Greyson Richardson, Carter Richardson, Skylar Bethel, Talan Bethel, Kade Ballard, Dawson Ballard, Hope Wall, Macon Wall, Henry Wall, Eva Grace Wall, Audrey Mulkey, Amelia Mulkey, Canaan Mulkey, and Aman Mulkey; His sisters: Jennie Richardson Pearson (husband Larry), Luella Richardson Resetar (husband Donald), Jessie Richardson Roberts (husband Raymond), Eva Gayle Richardson Lott (husband Jimmy), Virginia Ann (VA) Richardson Bourn (husband Bobby); His brother: Phillip Kemp Richardson (Partner Susan McKneely).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Bertie Richardson; and seven siblings: Murphy Richardson, Paul Richardson, Edmond Richardson, Ronnie Richardson, Phillip M. Richardson, Carl B Richardson, and Gladys Richardson.
Ike's family will host a wake and funeral service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401. Visitation will be Saturday, January 6 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Sunday, January 7 from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 2:00 pm. Reverend and Friend, Paul Taylor will officiate the ceremony. Ike will be interred at the Phillip Richardson Family Cemetery in Springfield, LA, with fellowship and memory sharing to follow at his home. The family invites all to join us in celebrating the life of our wonderful Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.
