By BILL BANKSTON
Mrs. Linda R. Albert, 33, of 9053 Cottage Ave., was fatally injured by the propeller of an outboard motor after she was thrown from her boat on False River yesterday afternoon, authorities said.
Wild Life and Fisheries agents who investigated the fatality could not be reached for comment today.
The Pointe Coupee sheriff's office at New Roads said Wild Life agents were conducting the investigation and that deputies had not yet received a report from the agents.
Boat Chase
Mrs. Albert was chasing a boat which had swerved several times near her camp on the island side of False River, friends of the victim and neighboring camp said.
The people in the other boat pulled Mrs. Albert from the water after the accident and took her across the lake to Bonaventure's Boat Landing where an ambulance was called, they said.
Mrs. Albert was dead on arrival at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital at 5:40 p.m.
The other boat was occupied by four young people, Mrs. Albert's friends said.
Mrs. Albert had her two daughters, 12 and 10, with her when she landed in the water, they said. She called to the girls to turn off the motor on the boat and to throw her a life jacket.
Her hear slumped over on the water after she got the jacket, they said.
Cuts Reported
The sheriff's office said it had learned that Mrs. Albert received severe abdominal cuts from a boat propeller.
Acquaintances said Mrs. Albert, her daughters and others, some of them swimming, were in front of her camp when the other craft buzzed her boat several times.
She chased after the other boat, they said. Witnesses at the scene were quoted as saying they could not see clearly how Mrs. Albert fell or was thrown from her boat when it got farther out in the lake.
The sheriff's office said it had no information as to whether Wild Life agents had arrested anyone in connection with the incident.
Services for Mrs. Albert will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mercy catholic Church in Baton Rouge. Rabenhorst Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Albert is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy J. Rockford, Baton Rouge, and her two daughters, Susan Gail Albert and Sharon Ann Albert.
