Motor Policemen Attend Services for James Ranna
Final Rites Are Conducted for Patrolman Killed in Accident
With all available motorcycle policemen in attendance, funeral services were held Saturday morning for Motorcycle Patrolman James A. Ranna, who was fatally injured early Friday while chasing a speeding automobile through a heavy fog.
The final rites were held at the funeral home of Leitz-Eagan, 2512 Magazine street, with religious ceremonies at St. Alphonsus' church. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
Ranna was injured at Canal and South St. Patrick streets when his motorcycle struck a truck. The motorcycle was wrecked and the patrolman was thrown under the truck.
Survivors are his widow, the former Miss Althea Silbernagel; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gaspar Ranna; four sisters, Mesdames Frank Fazzio, Augusta Mayewski and Theodore Andressen, and Miss Josephine Ranna; and three brothers, Anthony, Carl, and John Ranna.
