William C. "Bill" Orkus , Jr., age 81 years, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at East Jefferson Hospital. Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pearl Daigle Orkus ; four sons: William III, Michael, Gerard and Stephen and one daughter, Margaret Toups; son-in-law, Harold Toups; daughters-in-law: Cynthia Ruppert, Mindy Frick and Susan Reynolds. Also survived by 12 grandchildren: Pamela Skeath, Lauri LeJeune, Matthew Toups, Sharon and Phillip Hoffman, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Mitzi, Joshua, Stephen Jr., Abby and Gregory Orkus and five great-grandchildren: Lindsey, Austin, Courtney, Ashley and Cayce. Also survived by Sharon Epperson and Charles Stephens, Jr.

Mr. Orkus , a parishioner of St. Christopher Church, was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Metairie, LA for the past 57 years. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, Honarary Alumnus of Holy Cross School, recent inductee, along with his wife into the Holy Cross Tiger Band Hall of Fame.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from St. Christopher Catholic Church, 309 Manson Avenue, Metairie, LA on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in St. Patrick #2. Visitation on Monday, July 22, 2002 from 7 o'clock p.m. until 10 o'clock p.m. and on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 from 9 o'clock a.m. until 1 o'clock p.m. at THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP FUNERAL HOME, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd St., Metairie, LA.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Cross Memorial Scholarship Fund, 4950 Dauphine St., New Orleans, LA 70117 preferred.

A resident of Metairie for the past 57 years, he passed away at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, at East Jefferson Hospital. He was 81 and a native of New Orleans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
