DERBES Kathleen Marie McCullough Derbes, age 80 years, an acknowledged genealogist passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Covington, LA. Mrs. Derbes had published a paternal family genealogy book entitled ""David Shields McCullough and Anne Jane Smith'' and she made major contributions to the ""Derbes Family'' book published by Vincent J. Derbes and Bertrand Paquet in addition to numerous other projects. She had attended Newcomb College. She served for many years as the Registrar of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Covington. She was also a member of Colonial Dames XVII, United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Magna Charta Dames. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville. She was born in Decatur, Georgia, and had resided in the New Orleans area since 1942 and been a resident of Covington since 1960. She was the daughter of the late David F. McCullough and Kathleen Platt and the beloved wife of the late Maxime J. Derbes, Jr. for 61 years. Mrs. Derbes was the mother of Maxime J. Derbes III and David Stephen Derbes and the grandmother of Michelle Marie, Alexander Benjamin, Zachary John, David Stephen, Jr. and Christine Claire Derbes and Lori D. Rowe and three great-grandchildren, Emily Rowe, Mia Derbes and Isabel Derbes. She was the step-grandmother of Ashlee and Stuart Galvis, and Ryan, Mimi and Reed Duncan. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 16, 2005 from the Chapel of E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will be private. Memorials in her honor to the Fairhaven Children's Home, 21066 Fairhaven Road, Covington, LA 70435 will be appreciated.
