Joseph R. Manguno, 89, Syracuse, formerly of Lowville and Glenfield, died Friday at The Waters of Syracuse, 4001 E. Genesee St., Syracuse.

Mr. Manguno retired in 1970 after 14 years as a real estate appraiser and mortgage broker in Tampa, Fla. After his retirement, he resided in Lowville and Glenfield for a time.

Born Oct. 26, 1911, in New Orleans, La., son of Peter and Louis Vogel Manguno, he was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II, serving in the European and Asian theaters.

Surviving are his wife, Frances; a stepdaughter, Victoria Mathews, Syracuse; a stepson, Michael Robbins, Dickinson Center; a sister, Marion Garrity, New Orleans, three grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

There will be no funeral or calling hours.

Arrangements are with Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse.

Joseph R. Manguno, 89, of Syracuse died Friday at The Waters of Syracuse. Born in New Orleans, La., he lived in Florida, Lowville and Glenfield before moving to Syracuse. He retired in 1970 after 14 years as a real estate appraiser and mortgage broker in Hillsboro County, Tampa, Fla. He was a former member of the New York State Sheriff's Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had served in Europe and Asia.

Survivors: His wife, Frances; a stepdaughter, Victoria Mathews of Syracuse; a stepson, Michael Robbins of Dickinson Center; a sister, Marion Garrity of New Orleans; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
