Research:
Greetings,

My name is Joshua McCown and I came across your website when searching for more information about my ancestor Hugh Dunbar McCown. I believe I have some information that I can contribute to your site…

When I first came across the Lymans' that had the middle-name of McCown, I wanted to know what the connection was.

On your site, it is indicated that Guy Samuel Vanwickle Lyman works at HD McCown's store as an assistant cashier. Additionally, it is stated that his first-born child's name is Isabella McCown Lyman. I believe I can add some information here as to why that name was chosen…

HD McCown is Guy's uncle. HD (or Hugh) married Isabella C. Moody (1860-1946). Isabella is the daughter of Samuel Nadin Moody (c.1825-?) and Isabella Clark Raynes (c.1825-?).

Isabella Clark Rayne's first husband was a William Campbell. They had a child, Mary Adelia Campbell, who married William Remsen Falken Lyman… the parents of Guy Lyman. So Mary Adelia Campbell Lyman and Isabella Moody McCown were half sisters.

Joshua McCown 2/7/2015
